The works at the Vlora airport have progressed and the control tower, the fire brigade building and the terminal have taken shape.

Within the year, the application for the certification of the airport will be carried out, where its operation, staff qualification and security on the ground will be evaluated.

This was announced by the Director of Aerodromes, Selma Pagria, during an interview with the media.

"It is expected that the airport will submit the official application in December 2024, together with the relevant documentation for the operation and maintenance of this airport, including emergency plans. Key postholders, responsible managers and their qualifications will be evaluated. In the future, we will have an on-site inspection in order to guarantee safety", she said.

Pagria announced that 50% of the works have been done on the runway, while he indicated when all works are expected to be completed.

"Work continues on the connecting roads, we are at 90% of the works for the perimeter roads, and 60% for the service roads. Work continues on the terminal. As planned, the first phase is expected for all the facilities to be completed in December 2024", said the Director of Aerodromes./ CNA
