The government will forgive the fines imposed on citizens for illegal construction, as a result of interventions or constructions in old houses or on their land.

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced this news during a meeting with residents of Theth and some other areas of the North.

The head of the government declared that these constructions were not made to abuse and avoid the law, but out of necessity.

"There is a very large amount of fines as a result of interventions or constructions where you had your old house or land, which were made due to the need to create an economy through tourism. And those that were not built according to the law because the tightening of the legislation for this area that appears as a protected natural area has made it impossible, the government will forgive all fines. They are not typically constructions made abusively to avoid the law, they are constructions made out of necessity. In the face of legal impossibility, people have continued to do them. This does not mean that anyone who places a stone without permission will be tolerated, it means that at that stage when this happened, there was no attention from the municipality, zero", stressed Rama./ CNA
