Draft Law "On Gender Equality"/ Interreligious Council of Albania: We

A few weeks ago, the ICFTU addressed an official letter to the highest state institutions, the President, the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and the Committee on Labor, Social Affairs and Health, to express its concerns and arguments regarding the new draft law “On Gender Equality”. The Council emphasized the importance of dialogue and institutional cooperation to guarantee equality, respect for religious values ??and the protection of social cohesion.

"We would like to underline that any legal regulation must preserve human dignity, respect human nature and not violate the moral foundations of society. In our analysis, some of the provisions of this draft law, compared to the existing law, go beyond gender equality and risk introducing society into a process of moral relativism. Gender expression, based on the desire for personal gender self-determination, as posited by "gender theory", denies the greatest difference that exists between living beings: gender difference," the letter sent to state institutions stated, among other things. /CNA
