The Interreligious Council of Albania, representing the five religious communities in the country (the Muslim Community of Albania, the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, the Catholic Church in Albania, the World Bektashi Patriarchate and the Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania), has reiterated its position regarding the draft law "On Gender Equality" through a statement.
The following statement states that the IAC remains steadfast in its position on the importance of preserving the fundamental values ??of the family, the Albanian social and moral tradition, as well as the principles of religious beliefs. The Interreligious Council of Albania also emphasizes that it remains committed to open dialogue and cooperation with state institutions and civil society, for the construction of a just society.
Full statement:
The Interreligious Council of Albania reiterates once again its official position, expressed in the previous letter and statement, regarding the draft law "On Gender Equality".
The INFSH stands firm in its position, as clearly articulated in the document previously sent to the relevant institutions, underlining the importance of preserving the fundamental values ??of the family, the Albanian social and moral tradition, as well as the principles of our religious beliefs, in the spirit of respect, equality and mutual understanding.
The Interreligious Council of Albania remains committed to open dialogue and cooperation with state institutions and civil society, with the aim of strengthening interreligious harmony and building a just, equal and sustainable society.
May God bless Albania and all its citizens!
A few weeks ago, the ICFTU addressed an official letter to the highest state institutions, the President, the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and the Committee on Labor, Social Affairs and Health, to express its concerns and arguments regarding the new draft law “On Gender Equality”. The Council emphasized the importance of dialogue and institutional cooperation to guarantee equality, respect for religious values ??and the protection of social cohesion.
"We would like to underline that any legal regulation must preserve human dignity, respect human nature and not violate the moral foundations of society. In our analysis, some of the provisions of this draft law, compared to the existing law, go beyond gender equality and risk introducing society into a process of moral relativism. Gender expression, based on the desire for personal gender self-determination, as posited by "gender theory", denies the greatest difference that exists between living beings: gender difference," the letter sent to state institutions stated, among other things. /CNA
