Profile/ Who is Fiona Papajorgji, the new president of the Constitutional Court?

This Thursday, the new President of the Constitutional Court, Fiona Papajorgji, was elected to office.

Papajorgji was the only candidate for this position and was elected president for a 3-year term, succeeding Holta Zaçaj.

Papajorgji was born on March 12, 1976 in Vlora. He graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Law of the University of Bari, Italy.

In 2012, he received the scientific degree "Doctor of Legal Sciences" from the Faculty of Law of the University of Bari.

In the years 2000-2008, he practiced as an assistant lawyer and then as a lawyer at law firms in Bari.

Since 2007, she has been teaching as a lecturer in Public Law at several universities, and has been an expert in several projects at the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, in the process of approximation of legislation, etc.

During the period 2009-2011, she worked as a lawyer at the Directorate of Research, Studies and Publications at the Constitutional Court. In the years 2011-2019, she served as a legal advisor at the Constitutional Court.

Papajorgji is the author of several scientific articles in the field of Constitutional Law. In 2019, she was engaged by the School of Magistrates as an available lecturer for the first year of the Initial Training Program.

During 2020, she served as a member of the Judicial Appointments Council.

Since November 2019, Papajorgji has been appointed as a member of the Constitutional Court. /CNA
