Democratic Party MP Besart Xhaferri has reacted through a post on social media to the injury of a 15-year-old boy in Durrës.

Xhaferri writes that this event comes just a few days after the publication of the KLSH report on school safety, which showed that conflicts were not being reported.

He further adds that the HSE audit found that security officers do not conduct physical checks of students or facilities and that violence and bullying are at alarming levels in public institutions.

The stabbing injury to the heart of a high school student in Durrës was warned, the Supreme Audit Office's alarm about (in)security in schools fell on deaf ears!

Just a few days after the publication of the Albanian Supreme Audit Office's report on school safety, which exposed the fact that conflicts were not being reported, today another incident occurred at a school in Durrës.

A high school student at the "Dom Nikoll Kaçorri" high school in New Durrës was stabbed in the heart by a peer, after a heated argument that started with a comment on social media and continued with a confrontation between two high school students inside the school, which ended in a clash with knives.

This event once again confirms the alarm that school safety is a sensitive issue and that parents and teachers must be aware that this issue is not solved by propaganda or by hiding data.

The ALSHI report on school safety, published a few days ago, highlighted that security officers are simply a facade, that violence and bullying are at alarming levels in our public institutions, and that data is censored.

The Albanian Supreme Audit Office (ALSH) has described the government's "Safe Schools" project as a failure, as it has failed to guarantee a truly protected environment for students.

The SAI audit found that, despite clear instructions, security officers do not conduct physical checks of students or facilities, except in sporadic cases.

It is time for the Ministry of Education and the education offices to be held responsible and accountable for the issue of school safety. / CNA
