The session ends / The Constitutional Court without a decision on Veliaj

The hearing at the Constitutional Court regarding the review of Mayor Erion Veliaj's request for a change in security measures has concluded.

The session at the Constitutional Court has closed without a decision.

Arrested for 5 serious criminal offenses, Erion Veliaj has appealed the security measure "Arrest with imprisonment" to the Constitutional Court.  

The Constitutional Court's panel has decided that the decision on this appeal will be made at a later date.

The mayor, arrested on 13 charges, is seeking his freedom in the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, but has not appeared in court sessions in the Special Court for 9 months, as he is afraid of facing the facts and evidence found by prosecutors who have caught him "red-handed" with corruption, abuse of office, laundering the proceeds of crime, concealing assets, and bringing prohibited items into the cell.
