After about 7 months, the commander/KLP appoints Arens Çela as the head

Arens Çela was officially appointed today as the head of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana.

The decision was given today by the High Prosecution Council.

Çela was appointed in April of this year at the head of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, after the departure of Elisabeta Imeraj.

Arens Çela completed his studies at the Magistrate's School in 2006 and was appointed prosecutor at the Lushnje Prosecutor's Office. Afterwards, Çela headed the prosecution of Berat and held the position of deputy head of the Crimes Prosecution. In January 2020, Çela was appointed by the High Prosecution Council as an assistant magistrate in the General Prosecutor's Office.

Çela was confirmed in office on March 23, 2021 with a majority vote by the Independent Qualification Commission.

The two majority members of the KPK body, chairperson Pamela Qirko and relator Firdes Shuli, were convinced by prosecutor Çela's explanations about the property and the other two criteria for revaluation, while commissioner Xhensila Pine voted in favor of dismissal, after finding financial impossibility for an apartment and problems with professionalism.

However, the decision of the KPK was not appealed by the public commissioners and therefore became final./CNA.al
