The Hague Court is attacked by hackers

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has been attacked by hackers.

This news was confirmed by the Hague Court itself, which announced today that its computer system had been hacked.

The ICC said it had detected unusual activity on its computer network late last week, while it said investigations were ongoing.

The spokesperson of this institution refused to answer questions about how serious the attack was, whether it has been completely solved or about the people behind it.

The highly sensitive documents at Hagw could include anything from criminal evidence to the names of protected witnesses, although the court did not reveal what part of its systems the hackers had accessed.

The court said in its statement that it was continuing to "analyze and mitigate the impact of this incident" with the help of the Dutch government. It said it was also taking steps to strengthen its cyber security.

The ICC is the permanent war crimes court in the Dutch city of The Hague, established in 2002 to try war crimes and crimes against humanity. Prosecutors at the court are currently conducting 17 investigations into situations in Ukraine, Uganda, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Kosovo and the Philippines./ CNA
