The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodjan Braho, present today at the Electoral Reform Commission, said that the lack of efficiency in SPAK is a concern that is not only current. Braho said that there has been a burden created year after year.

In this regard, the head of SPAK said that a strategy has been approved in cooperation with international partners to reduce the backlog of cases.

A strategy for which Braho said that in the current year it has achieved 120% effectiveness.

Braho was also asked about electoral crime with the diaspora vote, which he said will present challenges since there cannot be a task force in every country in the world.

" As for the lack of efficiency, it is a concern for SPAK, which is not only current. We have had a workload created year after year. Only in 2024 was it filled with the full number of investigators and prosecutors. Last year, SPAK in cooperation with international partners adopted a strategy for reducing the backlog of cases. A strategy that is controlled in quarterly periods by a special group in SPAK where international partners also participate.

In the current year, in the first 6 months we can say that it is at the level of 120%. Regarding the way of qualifying criminal offenses, in particular that of the criminal group, it is related to case by case and cannot give a concrete answer to this. In the future, investigating electoral crimes for voting in the diaspora will present challenges. Because in Albania we have task forces, investigative groups, but we cannot have them abroad in every country , "said Braho.
