Establishment of an investigative commission for Begaj's dismissal/ Parliament rejects the DP's request

Parliament has rejected the Democratic Party's request to establish an investigative commission for the dismissal of President Bajram Begaj. The request was rejected with 77 votes in favor and 32 against.

The Democratic Party had demanded Begaj's dismissal after claiming that the president had committed seven violations. These violations include decreeing elections in Tirana in violation of the Constitution, interfering with the mandate of members of the Constitutional Court, violating the law on Investigative Commissions, and decreeing the virtual minister "Diella". The DP accused the President of failing to prevent the involvement of the diplomatic corps in the 2025 campaign and that his cabinet had interfered in the electoral process. /CNA
