Report for 2024/ The Head of the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution takes stock:

The Head of the Supreme Audit Office, Arben Shehu, has reported to the Parliament on the activities of the Supreme State Audit Office for 2024.

In the balance sheet made by Shehu, the SAI has conducted 159 audits at all levels of government, providing 194 opinions, messages and audit conclusions, which have been accompanied by 4378 recommendations, including 2594 organizational measures, 28 improvements to the legal framework, 1059 disciplinary and administrative measures, 184 measures with economic damage and 513 measures to address irregularities with a negative financial effect.

The level of acceptability of the recommendations given, verified in 97 audits conducted in 2023, has reached 99%. So, the level of acceptability of the recommendations. "During this reporting period, the Supreme State Audit Institution has continued to exercise its external public audit responsibilities, assessing the use of budgetary funds, the administration of state property and the functioning of financial management mechanisms at all levels of administration. During 2024, the Supreme State Audit conducted 159 audits at all levels of government, including central government, local government, independent institutions and state-owned enterprises, in accordance with the requirements of international auditing standards, manuals, and the regulation of audit procedures, based on the universal values ??of supreme audit institutions, such as independence, professionalism, integrity and transparency.

By type of audits, 45 financial, 43 compliance audits, 35 combined audits, 15 performance audits, 8 information technology audits and 13 on the implementation of recommendations were conducted.

Regarding the audit scope, these missions were carried out in 205 entities. 97 of which were central government units, 85 local government units, 13 independent institutions and 20 public entities.

This territorial and institutional reach demonstrates the institution's ongoing efforts to ensure a complete and balanced audit coverage of the public sector. In line with international auditing standards, each mission has aimed to reach a comprehensive conclusion on the legality, effectiveness and management of public funds, formulating concrete recommendations to correct deficiencies and promote continuous improvement.
