The serious event in Korça/ Minister: Unacceptable act, domestic violence

Minister Ervin Hoxha reacted after the serious event that happened yesterday in Korça, where the husband burned his wife with gasoline.

Hoxha says that this is an unacceptable act and that domestic violence still remains a problem that cannot be ignored, but requires an immediate response from institutions and society.

"Such events are a serious violation of human rights and a strong appeal to provide more powerful protection for all those who suffer from domestic violence, especially for minors, girls and women", says among other ministers Hoxha.

"The serious event that happened yesterday in Korça, where a husband in the process of divorce tried to burn his wife with gasoline, is an unacceptable act that reminds us that domestic violence is still a problem that cannot be ignored and that requires immediate response from the responsible institutions and from the whole society.

Such events are a serious violation of human rights and a strong appeal to provide stronger protection for all those who suffer from domestic violence, especially for minors, girls and women.

I am convinced that in order to prevent and treat such cases, not only the reaction of the relevant institutions is enough, but also the solidarity and awareness of our society, so that no one is subjected to such unacceptable treatment, as in the case of Korça.

Therefore, I call on citizens to report any case of domestic violence and to cooperate with the authorities, to ensure that those who commit these acts face the consequences of their actions, just as the perpetrator will face yesterday's event!

As Minister of the Interior, I express my greatest support for victims of domestic violence and my commitment to work tirelessly for a society where everyone feels safe and respected.
