The head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, expressed his condolences for the premature death of the Italian foreign minister, Frnaco Frattin.

Meta writes that Fratini was a great friend of Albanians and a supporter of Albania's membership in NATO and the EU.

"With deep sadness, I learned about the premature death of Franco Frattini, a great friend of Albanians, who devised the roadmap for the liberalization of EU visas with the countries of the Western Balkans and was the most determined supporter for the successful crowning of this process historical especially for Albania.

Frattini was an outstanding supporter of our NATO membership and European integration. He understood the importance of strategic relations between our two countries, so he devoted himself to strengthening them in all directions.

My deepest condolences to the Frattini family, the authorities and the friendly Italian people for this great and irreplaceable loss that saddened us all!", writes Meta./ CNA.al
