The deputy of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj, spoke after the meeting of the opposition, where 43 deputies were present, including him.

Gjekmarkaj said that he did not go there to line up with the pulpit or to withdraw what he thinks about Berisha, but that the country needs the opposition to be united.

According to him, the opposition needs new leadership, not Berisha and Basha.

"As a deputy elected on April 25 in the lists of the Opposition, I belong to it. Today, the entire opposition was invited without exception, the MPs from the PD-AN list to talk about the opposition action. I have not changed my position on anything. I stick to the same coherence. I didn't go to line up at the pulpit or tell what I think about Salin Berisha, but I went to an opposition meeting.

The fact is that the Opposition is divided and the country needs it to be united and strong in the face of an all-powerful government. The union is not the success, it is the minimum for it to rise again. My personal position remains unshaken, a united, modern opposition that knows how to read society and responds to its needs but also to Albania's needs for change. In the battle with Edi Rama, she needs new leadership who are neither Berisha nor Basha, but who do not exclude anyone from the opposition front. This opposition was born pro-Western and should always remain so after any conflict with it", said Gjekmarkaj./ CNA
