The Prosecutor's Office of Korça has investigated the Inspector with the initials AL for "Misuse of Duty".

The prosecution accuses the police inspector of not taking measures to document the murder of Egli Proga on August 10, in Pogradec.

According to her, the inspector was informed by the eyewitness of the event, citizen AB, about the rape of Proga, but he ignored the cause of her death.

In the announcement, it is emphasized that the inspector has previously reported to the ready prosecutor "that a notification was received from the Operating Room that a drunken person aged about 37 fell and as a result died in the Regional Hospital of Pogradec".

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Korçë General Jurisdiction is investigating the AL citizen suspected of the criminal offense "Abuse of Duty" provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.

The citizen in question, with the duty of Inspector, Service Corps, General Patrol, it turns out that he did not take any measures to document or present the cause of death of the EP citizen on 10.08.2024 in Pogradec.

On 10.08.2024, around 19:00, a notification was received that a citizen was found lying unconscious near the place called "Agency", at the roundabout, neighborhood no. 2 in Pogradec. After the arrival of the local police officers, he was identified as the citizen EP who was transported to the hospital without signs of life.

Citizens V.Sh., AB, A.Sh., RB, LG, AM, and DM were asked about the event.

From the statement of the citizen AB, it turned out that when he was in the hospital where he accompanied the victim, he heard the Inspector, AL, talking on the phone, who communicated the fact that a person was drunk and fell.

AB told him that his cousin (the victim) had been hit, but the inspector told him 'go away from there'.

The preliminary investigative actions cited above, carried out in the function of a complete and comprehensive investigation of this criminal case, have created a reasonable suspicion based on evidence, that the elements of the criminal offense have been consumed by the AL citizen. Abuse of duty provided by Article 248 of the Criminal Code, because this citizen with the duty of Inspector, Service Corps, General Patrol, in violation of his functional duties, has not taken any measures to document or present the cause of death of the victim even though this cause was presented to him by the eyewitness of the event, citizen AB

It is also proved that the ready prosecutor was informed in advance of the fact that a notification was received from the Operating Room that a drunken person aged about 37 fell and as a result died in the Regional Hospital of Pogradec.

In these circumstances, the above-mentioned citizen was held criminally responsible for the suspected criminal offense committed by him, because as a result of his actions it was not possible to document the actual event that occurred./ CNA
