Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj, who was one of the injured in the protest of January 21, 2011, recounted the experiences of that day, which, according to him, has remained a black spot in the Albanian justice system, which is not able to clarify the incident where there was 4 victim.

Mahmutaj said during an interview that this is the event that changed his life completely, forcing him to leave the country.

 "January 21 is one of the dark recesses of the Albanian state. It's one of those events that does injustice year after year. Injustice has reached its maximum in this matter and the worst day for 4 victims. The worst day even for the 45 injured.

I didn't want to stop at my personal part, I remember the bullets of the state bodies, the Guard of the Republic, the Albanian police, on the Albanians themselves. Some Albanians who were shooting at some other Albanians for something that was cooked up by the politics of the time.

It was a forced decision. There was no other choice. I had to completely change not only my life, but also my behavior, from being a good citizen I had to secretly leave my country", Mahmutaj confesses.

According to the journalist, this issue that still remains unresolved and passes from one gate to another is the blackest stain of Albanian justice.

"The life I had created, to change it completely, to return once again to build it once again, because of what happened to me and the accusations I brought against the people I brought against the executioners of January 21, against the people who shot directly at the protesters .

There were consequences, from not treating me to "persecution", threats, etc. This January 21 brought my work back a lot and I had to build everything in Belgium.

This January 21, which has been unwhitened for 13 years, throwing the ball from one gate to another gate of justice, a black stain was added to Albanian justice", stated Mahmutaj.

Among other things, he expressed his willingness to testify in relation to this case if the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime takes it in hand./ CNA
