Saimiri Tahir's release from prison/ "Vërsulet" Bardhi:

Today the Court of Elbasan has decided to release former minister Saimir Tahiri from prison and to serve the rest of his sentence at home.

After this decision, the leader of the Democratic Party of Vula, Gazment Bardhi, reacted, calling it a political decision and a mockery of justice.

" Former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri will be remembered as Edi Rama's champion minister who guaranteed the inviolability of criminal groups, deepened the state's cooperation with them and, like never before, filled the country with cannabis with state permission, favoring the empowerment of crime organized.

His early parole is a travesty of justice. While Albanian citizens wait for the new justice to put an end to impunity, high-ranking corrupt officials benefit from deeply political court decisions that turn their sentences into laughable ones.

Abusers of power must suffer their full punishment, without any political favoritism and being treated equally with every other citizen. On behalf of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, I consider today's political decision of the Court of Elbasan a shame of justice and as an incentive for the deepening of corruption and abuse of power", declares Bardhi./ CNA.al
