Celebration of Solemn Mass at the Vatican/ Pope Leo invites Archbishop Joan to

Through a communication from the Vatican, Pope Leo, newly elected head of the Catholic Church, has today sent a special invitation to Archbishop Joan, on the occasion of the celebration of the Solemn Mass in St. Peter's Square, where the Pope's Petrine ministry will be inaugurated.

In the message sent to His Beatitude Joan, the Pope appreciated the opportunity to send special greetings to the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, in his mission of dignified service to God and the Church.

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2).

With feelings of fraternal affection, I have the honor to announce to Your Beatitude that, following my election as Bishop of Rome and Pope of the Catholic Church, the inauguration of my Petrine ministry will be celebrated with a Solemn Mass in St. Peter's Square, on 18 May 2025. I kindly ask you to remember me in your prayers, so that with the help of Almighty God, I may worthily serve the Lord and His Church, in full fulfillment of my vocation.

With great joy I take this opportunity to exchange with Your Beatitude an embrace of peace in the Risen Christ.
