Corruption with the compensation of the former owners/ One person is left in

The Special Court has left a person in prison for corruption, related to the compensation of the properties of 22 former owners.

The trial of this case took place under the rules of summary trial.

GJKKO declared the defendant Artur Gashi guilty of committing the criminal offense of "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions", provided for by Article 244 of the Criminal Code, before the amendments made by Law No. 43 of 2021 and his sentence of 6 months of imprisonment.

Pursuant to Article 406/1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the defendant Artur Gashi is reduced by 1/3 (one third) of the sentence and ultimately sentenced to 4 months of imprisonment.

The serving of the sentence also takes into consideration the time spent in the "House Arrest" security measure.

The decision was taken by the judging panel composed of judges Elsa Ulliri, Ardit Mustafaj and Bib Ndreca.

We remind you that the event, where Gashi is implicated, was documented in 2023 with the arrest of the former head of the Cadastre, Ilir Kapetani, and 14 people who were suspected of having given bribes.

Based on the conducted investigations, according to SPAK, at least 14 cases were documented, in which the former Cadastre employee took money from various citizens.

Ilir Kapetani, with the duty of inspector of the review of files in the Cadastre, is suspected of taking from the former owners and promising them financial compensation of the properties, while handling their requests for the return and compensation of the property./ CNA
