Manastirliu, in the "Fan Noli" school: 300 schools equipped with

The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, was at the 9-year-old "Fan Noli" school, which is one of the 50 educational institutions in Tirana equipped with Smart laboratories, as part of a national initiative to transform schools through technology. This initiative was implemented with the support of international partners and aims for every school in Albania to benefit from advanced technology for successful teaching.

During her visit, Minister Manastirliu, while talking to the teachers of this school, emphasized the importance of improving the quality of education through the inclusion of technology and the training of teachers in digital skills.

"More than 16 thousand teachers will be trained this year and next year to improve the quality of teaching, especially in terms of digital skills through the large investments we have made in Smart laboratories. In the 'Fan Noli' school, two such laboratories are already operational, providing opportunities for integrated teaching for more than 120 first and second grade students. But this integrated approach is valid for all sciences and for all teaching cycles, using these investments that we have made as a government in cooperation with partners and the National Information Agency", said the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu.

The Smart Labs in Tirana schools are part of a wider network, where currently 300 schools across the country have been equipped with these new technologies, and it is anticipated that another +600 schools will benefit over the next two years. In order to fulfill this goal, Manastirliu emphasized the importance of the support and involvement of teachers and two new roles that have been added to the school: the quality coordinator and the career one, which help in the orientation of students.

"About 320 teacher coordinators will help schools to identify needs for specific training for teachers, as well as for career guidance of students starting from the sixth grade. I am convinced that these new figures will give a new impetus to the quality of education and to the career orientation of students," said the Minister, Manastirliu.

She also underlined the importance of the engagement of teachers and students in the PISA international assessment process, expressing the belief that "the maximum commitment to the understanding of the importance of this assessment will take us to higher levels."

"Fan Noli" school, an institution with a 60-year tradition in Tirana, currently has 1,070 students and 67 teachers and is ranked 9th in Tirana for its performance. This school is equipped with two SmartLabs with 30 laptops serving over 120 students. The school also offers extracurricular activities such as "Sports Teams" and a library with over 3,400 art books to create conditions for education beyond the classroom./ CNA
