"We rejected requests from other countries"/ Rama: The agreement with

Prime Minister Edi Rama says that the agreement with Italy for immigrants is not unconstitutional.

From Italy during a visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, in the days of politics, culture, debate in Atreju 2023 with journalists Maurizio Belpietro, director of "La Verità" and Andrea Malaguti, director of "La Stampa" he said that the agreement for immigrants it is not unconstitutional.

"The Constitutional Court of Albania has done its duty because the Constitution automatically suspends an agreement to review it before it is ratified in the parliament. It is proof that I do not control the courts in Albania. I am confident because there is nothing unconstitutional about the agreement. March is the deadline, but I believe that the decision will be made much earlier, because it is a very important agreement and both governments want to know whether they can move forward or not," he said.

He says that there have been requests from other countries, but he has not accepted such a thing.

"I will not accept other requests from European countries. We had other requests from cousin countries, but we said no. Italy is not a cousin country, but a brother, a sister. There is a difference. If we make an agreement with a country like Italy, we do it as part of the joint commitment, not as if we are an external country to which the problem is transferred. What Italy is doing is not transferring the problem, but expanding the space to manage this issue while dealing with the problem," he said./ CNA
