The Prefect of Vlora, Vangjel Tavo, has revealed how he received the proposal from Prime Minister Edi Rama to run for the Municipality of Himara.

During an interview with Ola Bruko, Tavo said that when it was spread as news in the media, he had not yet discussed it as an opportunity to run.

Tavo has stated that he will now move to Himare to be closer to the citizens.

"When my name circulated in the media as a candidate in Himare, it was a rumor. It's been a while since the prime minister invited me and we discussed the candidacy issue, and I can't say it was unexpected. At first, when it circulated in the media, it was a rumor, we have been discussing it for a while now. I feel honored to be running for the Mayor of Himara. I have my experience in politics, in the service of people. For me it is a responsibility.

I believe that my long experience was the reason for the support from the Presidency of the SP. This political profile of mine has been the issues that have been evaluated by the Prime Minister and the Presidency of the SP, with a different responsibility. I feel honored to serve this municipality, this community, the people of Himarjot with a glorious history that makes them proud of their birthplace and origin. From time to time, we have to admit, from different factors this pride and this dignity of theirs with involuntary actions, I want to say here, this dignity and this pride of theirs has been insulted. The name himarjot has been misused, but himarjots are himarjots and should be valued as such.

I will move to Himare and I will be constantly in contact with people, I will be every day. Even when I was a deputy of Gjirokastra, I spent 4 days in Gjirokastra and three days in Tirana when it is known that engagement as a deputy is different. As Prefect of Vlora, I am in Vlora. As mayor, I will be in Himare every day", said Tavo.

Furthermore, Vangjel Tavo has stated that he welcomes every candidate in the race.

"Every candidate in front of me is welcome. But I will not deal with any of them. I am concerned about the problems that the citizens have. I will not deal with other candidates. Don't ask me to comment on rival candidates. My slogan is 'solution, not crisis'. There is no crisis, but solutions to the problems in Himare, in this sense", said Vangjel Tavo./ CNA
