Citizens of Albania and Kosovo will pass with ease of movement on both sides of the border, through the border points that connect the two countries, in the area of ??Tropoja and Gjakova.

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla and his counterpart Xhelal Sveçla signed in Qafë Morinë the protocol for the implementation of joint border control, at the common border crossing points Qafë Morinë, Qafë Prush, Shishtavec/Krushevë, Borje/Gllobo?icë and Orgjost/Orçush.

"The good news is that we are extending the experience gained from Morina Border Crossing Point to all Border Crossing Points. The citizens of Tropoja will find it much easier to cross to Gjakovë, the citizens of Has as well, but also Kukësi and Dragash, in order to guarantee that at all these border crossing points we have not only a joint control between Albanian State Police and Kosovo State Police, but also to reduce time. As you know, for the citizens of Albania and Kosovo, there are no more checks like you saw and followed.

We have taken advantage of the opportunity that technology gives us, to record all license plates through the camera system to have clear evidence. While the good news is not only for us, for the citizens of Albania or Kosovo, because at these border crossing points there are many tourists who come to visit the beauties of the Gjakova Highlands in its two parts, so in this aspect also for foreign citizens, visitors who come to Tropoja or want to go to Gjakovë, this facilitation of crossing the border is a good opportunity", stated Balla.

Regarding the technical content of the protocol, he said that technology helps and facilitates the process.

"As we also evidenced it through the camera system and I would invite you to go through the entire protocol after communicating with us, so if a car with Kosovo license plates comes to enter from Gjakova to go to Tropoja, they simply and only did a speed reduction and it passes while the camera system module does the filming, reads the license plate and the vehicle license plate passes, is loaded into the system, this is followed to clarify, only for vehicles with numbers, with license plates Albania and the Republic of Kosovo. For the others, the part of the control that we had continues and never forget that the important thing in this whole process is the calculation, that is, the common control points.
