The head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, Altin Dumani, held a meeting with journalists this Monday, where he was asked about some issues that SPAK is investigating.

Regarding the issue of the privatization of the "Partizani" complex, Dumani said that they will evaluate it when they have collected all the evidence, as he added that a financial investigation has been conducted in connection with the case.

"A property investigation has been conducted for Berisha. The investigations will end when the prosecutors evaluate it," said Dumani.  

For the "Partizani" file, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his son-in-law are under "house arrest", while the builder Fatmir Bektashi is under "compulsion to appear".

According to SPAK, Berisha is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials", committed in collaboration with his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezin.

His son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, is accused of the same criminal offense as he is suspected of having received irregular benefits, as a product of cooperation with former Prime Minister Berisha.

Meanwhile, on July 2, 2024, the Special Court could not consider the request of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi for replacement of the security measure.

In this session, the lawyers requested information on the investigations so far. The session did not take place as Berisha and Malltezi did not receive information according to the law.

Berisha's lawyer, Gjokutaj, said in a statement to the media that the investigations into the "Partizani" case have been extended in a direction that has nothing to do with corruption. /CNA
