The incinerator of Tirana, a structured criminal group/ Dumani: The judge cannot
Altin Dumani

The persons involved in the Tirana incinerator affair are being investigated by SPAK as a structured criminal group.

In this regard, the head of SPAK Altin Dumani during a statement to the media said that this is under preliminary investigation and he cannot provide information.

"It is under preliminary investigation, I cannot provide information. The preliminary investigation judge cannot file charges. We as prosecutors and I. The judge cannot intervene at this procedural moment," he said.

Tirana's incinerator is being investigated as a structured criminal group.

This was also confirmed in a decision taken recently by the Special Court of Appeal, where it was decided to return to prison Namik Simixhiu, accused by SPAK for the Tirana incinerator.

The appeal of the GJKKO has decided the measure of "prison arrest" for Simixhiu, as a suspect for committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty" carried out in special cooperation in the form of a structured criminal group.

On December 8, 2023, by order of SPAK, Erjon Murataj, Bledar Karoli, Taulant Tusha, Namik Simixhiu and Jetmir Llapaj were arrested.

Accusations for the affair in Tirana also weigh against the former Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, and his former secretary Alqi Blako.

In addition, there are arrest warrants for the heads of incinerators Klodian Zoto and Mirel Mërtiri, who are wanted internationally for the affairs in the two incinerators of Elbasan and Fier.

Alba Thoma, Valbona Ballgjini, Sidita Kopliku, Pëllumb Abeshi, Etleva Kondi and Sidita Tola were left under "house arrest".

In May, the investigative deadlines for the Tirana incinerator were extended by 3 months. The request for the extension of the investigative deadlines was made by the prosecutors of the case and was accepted by the GJKKO.

The incinerator of Tirana is one of the biggest corrupt affairs, as it has swallowed hundreds of millions of euros from Albanian taxpayers, but in reality it does not exist.

It is an affair that holds within it another affair like that of the lands, which has cost the citizens 60 million euros. /CNA
