Stalking Phenomenon/ Tushi for CNA: Dangerous, problematic people in every
Cheers Tushi

Nowadays, stalking has become a worrying phenomenon, where everyone is at risk, especially women, girls and minors.

Sociologist Gëzim Tushi, in an interview for CNA TV, with journalist Fabjona Pasho breaks down the phenomenon and the danger that stalkers carry.

"It is a disgusting behavior, an anti-citizen action, a violation of human rights, a maniacal behavior. I think it is an ugly behavior that I believe constitutes one of the cultural and educational defects of today's man. It is unacceptable that in this era, in today's time, when human rights are spoken about and guaranteed, with international conventions, with legislation, but also from an educational and moral point of view, there are such levels of persecution, sexual harassment, persecution for certain purposes, whether financial, or to denigrate the personality, or to create certain traps, to put the person in a difficult position. It is a disgusting social vice", he said.

However, Tushi explains that a widespread form of stalking is also that of ex-partners.

"Besides the jealousy that is inside the marriage, which is somewhat understandable, the problem is after you are separated and you will know who your partner is with. These kinds of persecutions are a big problem and are related to a kind of defect that men have, who consider their wives, even when they don't have them, as their property and they should know everything," he said.

The online world is an added risk for stalking.

"Intervening on each other's pages, or publishing photos, the blackmail that is done is very ugly. Women and girls have become the main object of this type of electronic crime. Time and time again, bullying, harassment, stalking have led to stalking," he said.

The sociologist explains how stalkers are a danger not only for certain individuals, but for the whole society, as they build problematic relationships.

"This maniacal stalking behavior, the tendency to interfere in each other's internal affairs, the idea of ??controlling and observing private life, undoubtedly, apart from being an individual pathology, also constitutes a social danger. Such elements are toxic not only in personal and family relationships, but also in social and work relationships. Such elements are destructive, break the relationship of certain relationships, create anomalies and big problems, either at work or in social life," he said.

According to Tushi, there should be a national registry for stalkers in order to prevent the danger that comes from them.

"They deserve not only to be punished from a legal point of view, but they should also be unmasked morally. Albanian society needs a book of shame where they must be identified. Publicizing people who exhibit such vices should be publicized in order to expose them. This will reduce this virulence. It will bring some kind of restraint and punishment. For people with criminal tendencies, if they are mentally unbalanced, as some of them are not mentally well. These should be taken to psychiatric hospitals and treated for their illnesses," he said.

In cases of harassment, citizens must report, in order to prevent criminal events and the social effects that such persons bring./ CNA
