Here's how many electric cars Albania has, the city that leads

According to data, there are 12,772 electric cars circulating in Albania. Only in the capital and the surrounding areas, including Kamza and Vora, there are 9,562 electric vehicles circulating. So, over 70% of them circulate in the capital.

These cars run only on electricity and do not have a gasoline or diesel engine, but operate by being charged at charging stations.

There are several types of electric cars, including:

Fully electric vehicles (BEV):  The advantage of this type is that they do not produce polluting gases and have lower operating costs.

Examples: BEV from Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen ID.

Hybrid vehicles (HEV):  These use a combination of an electric motor and a gasoline engine. The battery is automatically charged during braking and by the gasoline engine, without the need for plug-in charging.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV):  Similar to hybrids, but their battery can be charged at a plug-in outlet. They can travel a few miles on electric power alone before having to use the gasoline engine.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEV):  These vehicles generate electricity from hydrogen and the only emission is water. They are very environmentally friendly, but the infrastructure for this type of vehicle is still limited.

One of the main reasons for the interest in these vehicles is the lower cost of maintenance and fuel, as electricity is cheaper in price compared to diesel or gasoline. In addition, electric cars create less noise and do not emit polluting gases during use.

In Tirana, charging points for electric vehicles have also begun to increase, located in several public areas, near shopping centers and near parking lots. /CNA
