Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, was indicted Thursday by special prosecutor David Weiss on the first charges related to gun possession.

According to Fox News, three charges have been filed against him. The first, for making a false statement when purchasing the firearm, the second for making a false statement regarding the information required by the licensed dealer, and the last, for possession of a firearm by a person addicted to substances.

The charges come after a plea deal failed earlier. Hunter Biden was expected to plead guilty in the case.

The NY Post writes that Hunter Biden risks over 25 years in prison. According to the BBC, this is the first time the son of a sitting president has faced criminal charges.

These are the first charges brought against the First Son, since the special investigations against him began. But Fox News reported in 2021 that police responded to an incident in October 2018 after a gun owned by Hunter Biden was thrown into a dumpster at a Delaware convenience store.
