The court of Tirana leaves the Russian neurosurgeon in prison

At noon on Thursday, a Russian identified as Aleksander Bobovnikov, 57 years old, was handcuffed by the Albanian police in Rinas.

The latter was declared internationally wanted by Russia for the criminal offense of fraud.

Earlier he was detained in Florence, but the Italian court refused extradition due to the political nature of the case for which he was wanted in his country. He has been described in Russia as a critic against the power of the Kremlin. 

Bobovnikov arrived in Albania on May 27, by charter together with some of his German friends.

The Tirana court set a security measure of 15 days in prison for the Russian neurosurgeon and has asked the Ministry of Justice for information on whether the arrest warrant in Russia has a political nature./ CNA
