Ermira Kaçaçi, the mother of 31-year-old Gert Shehu, who today punched the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, during the DP protest, rejected the accusations that her son is a crime agent or connected to the police.

In an exclusive interview for "Euronews Albania" journalist, Eni Ferhati, the 31-year-old's mother said that her son has bipolar disorder and has been receiving treatment for 5 years.


"He is neither an agent, nor is he related to the police. He is sick with bipolar disorder, has epicrisis, has been treated for 5 years. I didn't know where it was. In the morning I left him alone, I told him to stay at home, as if I foresaw it. He was twice in the psychiatric emergency room, once I took him to the police because he was bad," said the 31-year-old's mother.

She said that her son is being treated with the drug Tegretol and is followed by doctor Sadik Lala.

Tegretol is an anticonvulsant that is sometimes prescribed as a mood stabilizer in bipolar disorder. In addition to seizures and bipolar disorders, it is also prescribed for the relief of pain in trigeminal neuralgia./Euronews
