Eid al-Adha/ Message from the Mufti of Korça, Ledian Cikalleshi: Peace and joy in the family

On the occasion of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the mufti of Korça, Ledian Cikalleshi, has conveyed his congratulations to Muslim believers, calling for peace and harmony in the family and society.

He emphasized that the symbolism of this day is sacrifice and invited believers to, if possible, make a sacrifice and share food with family and the needy.

Cikalleshi also announced that the Eid al-Adha prayer ceremony will be held in Korça, near the "Iljas Bej Mirahori" mosque, while in other areas in the respective mosques.

Dear Muslim believers of the Korça Region, sisters and brothers!

On this eve of the Eid al-Adha holiday, allow me to convey my warmest wishes to you. May this holiday bring peace, happiness, and joy to your families.

Eid al-Adha is one of the great holidays of the Islamic religion that unites the hearts of Muslims around the world. It reminds us of the sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail's submission to the Lord of the worlds, as well as the proper parent-child relationship. Therefore, the symbolism of this day is sacrifice. A sheep, goat or cow can be sacrificed, starting after the Eid prayer in the mosque. While other animals, such as chickens, ducks, etc., do not fall into the category of sacrifice. Whoever has the economic means, let him sacrifice a piece of sugarcane as a sign of gratitude to God, feed his family and distribute it to others, as is the message of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Dear believers!

Today is the Day of Arafat, when pilgrims in Mecca gather at the Arafat area to pray. Other believers may fast on this day, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) informs us that the reward for fasting on this day is that the sins of the previous year and the coming year are forgiven. Whoever fasts on this day, may Allaah accept it and grant him his reward!

While the Eid al-Adha holiday is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The Eid al-Adha prayer ceremony for the city of Korça will take place in front of the courtyard of the old "Iljas Bej Mirahori" mosque, while in other areas in the respective mosques.

All believers, men and women, children and the elderly, are welcome to participate in the Eid prayer ceremony, which begins at 06:20 with lectures and culminates with the Eid prayer at 06:50.
