MEP: Albania could be the next EU enlargement success story

MEP Andreas Schieder has described Albania as one of the most advanced candidates towards the European Union.

He stressed that Albania enjoys broad support for EU membership, citing the pace of reforms and the rapid opening of negotiations as indicators of political commitment in the country.

According to Schieder, the country has managed to create a real perspective for concluding the negotiations within the next few months, placing Albania at an important stage of the integration process.

The MEP also praised the efforts to strengthen the rule of law and the fight against corruption, emphasizing that the accession process should bring concrete improvements in the lives of citizens.

He also focused on the importance of developing sustainable tourism as part of economic growth and European standards, underlining the need for long-term policies.

Schieder expressed optimism that Albania could become one of the success stories of European Union enlargement in the coming years.

"Albania has shown an extraordinary commitment to the European Union model. The opening of all negotiation chapters within 13 months demonstrates the political will to advance reforms. Albania and its citizens are working together to achieve these objectives. This is why I am convinced that Albania can be the next success story of European Union enlargement", said the MEP./ CNA
