Energy, in August alone, there were three licensing procedures for HPPs and two

Energy projects have taken on a new pace since the beginning of the crisis in 2021, where businesses have rushed with implementation projects.

Only in August, the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) started the procedures for licensing three hydropower plants and two solar plants with an approximate installed capacity of 15 MW in total.

Specifically, ERE started the procedure for the licensing of HEC Selca by the company Selca Energji, which has increased the capacity from 1.6 MW to over 1.9 MW.

"At its meeting dated 09.08.2023, the Board of ERE decided to start the procedure for modifying the license of the company "Selcë energii" shpk in the activity of electricity production from HEC Selca, located in the village of Selcë, Administrative Unit Tamare, Malësi e Madhe, for increasing the installed capacity of this HPP from 1.6 M to 1.98 MW" it was stated in the decision of the Entity.

Meanwhile, two other HPPs belonging to a joint project implemented by Gealb Energy have requested licensing for a total capacity of 9.3MW.

"At its meeting dated 23.08.2023, the Board of ERE decided to start the procedure for licensing the company "Gealb Energy" shpk in the activity of electricity production from the hydropower plants "Guri i Bardhë 1" with an installed power of 5360KW and "Guri i Bardhë 2" with installed power of 3940KW, located in the catchment basin of the Zalli i Dishis and Shehu streams (tributary of the Mat river), Guri i Bardhë Village, Xibër Administrative Unit, Klos Municipality, Dibër District, with capacity total installed 9300 kW" announced the Entity.

Two other projects belong to photovoltaic energy and specifically to solar plants up to 2MW which are not concession objects.

First, the Entity announced the licensing procedure for Joint Venture 2B 1979 and 2T sh.pk" in the activity of electricity production from the photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 2 MW, located in the Grykë area, Fier Municipality, Fier District.

Secondly, the licensing of the company "IDI 2005" shpk in the activity of electricity production from the photovoltaic plant "TEKSOEN 1" with an installed capacity of 2 MW, located in the Povelçë Administrative Unit, Fier Municipality, Fier District.

Licensing of new companies has been numerous this year, as the energy crisis has caused investments in the sector to increase.

This has been evident both in self-consumption projects and in commercial projects. The viability of the investment return has increased as a result of the prices that in 2022 reached a record in the energy exchanges, while this year they have appeared more stable but again above the historical average.

The fastest investments seem to be in photovoltaics, tending to the policy of diversification as a way to increase the energy security of the country that was shaken at the height of the energy crisis last year./ Monitor.al
