The Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance is holding a hearing today with the Interest Groups on the Fiscal Package. A representative from the Dairy Farmers Association, an association established in January 2023, spoke at the hearing.

He expressed some of his association's concerns, including the sale of milk, which he said is done without invoices. He further added that an inspection should be carried out, just like the one done with the dairy.

"We have some concerns that 70% of milk sales in Albania occur without invoices, when we say without invoices because we do not consider it an auto-invoice.  The processor buys it when he needs it at the price he needs to adjust his balance sheet. Why is there no control from the government to have an invoice for the goods directly from the milk. We understand why farmers do not invoice their own production.  There should be a control like the one that started with the dairy control. The subjects we are talking about today work honorably at the limit of 10 million lek. These are the reasons why the farmer is taken from the milk for 45 lek. It circulates without an invoice," said the representative of the association.

He mentioned as another concern the non-payment of subsidies this year to farmers.

"Another worrying problem is that farmers have a shortfall in the payments of subsidies for the year that is closing. In our association, many farmers report that they have not received a single lek per liter, head or oil. We do not understand why in 11 months this lek has not been received. And all farmers, livestock keepers are watching what will happen. Will the lek be received in these 20 or 30 days, the money that was promised to them," he added. /CNA
