Dismissed in 2022/ KPA reinstates Fier prosecutor

The Special Appeals Chamber's vetting has overturned the first-instance decision of the Independent Qualification Commission and reinstated Fier prosecutor Violeta Shkurta. Shkurta was dismissed in 2022 due to property problems.

The panel of the Special Appeals Chamber, composed of Sokol Çomo as chairman, Mimoza Tasi as rapporteur, Albana Shtylla, Ina Rama, Natasha Mulaj as members, announced today (March 17) the decision on case no. 22/2022, dated 09.05.2022, which concerns the appeal of the reassessment subject Violeta Shkurta against the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission no. 514, dated 28.02.2022.

"At the end of the trial in the deliberation room, the trial panel, based on Article 66, point 1, letter "b" of Law No. 84/2016, "On the temporary re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania", by majority vote, decided: Amending decision No. 514, dated 28.02.2022 of the Independent Qualification Commission and confirming in office the subject of the re-evaluation Violeta Shkurta. This decision is final and has immediate effect. It was announced in Tirana, on 13.03.2025", - the KPA decision states./CNA
