His Beatitude Joani, elected on March 16, 2025 as Archbishop of the Albanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, has spoken about the future of the church and where his leadership will be based. In his first interview as Archbishop, His Beatitude Joani stated that the leadership of the Orthodox Church should focus on several areas , such as: preserving the teachings of God transmitted by the apostles to our days; the unity of the Church and the strengthening of religious coexistence.

Archbishop Joani said that the Albanian Orthodox Church will be friendly and wants to live in peace with everyone.

" I think we should focus on several areas: preserving the teachings of God, transmitted by the apostles to our day, on the unity of the church, on strengthening religious coexistence, on caring for everyone, especially those who are poor, in need, in sickness, in loneliness and marginalized, and on promoting dialogue, both pan-Orthodox and in dialogue with everyone else."
