Closure of 'TikTok'/ AGSH files a request with the Constitutional

The Alliance for Albanian Journalists has filed a request with the Constitutional Court to declare the Albanian government's decision to close the social platform 'TikTok' unconstitutional.

The head of the AGSH, Isa Myraj, in a statement to the media, expressed confidence that the members of the Court will not legitimize it because this would create a precedent that could lead to the closure of other social networks.

"We cannot go to complete censorship and closure of social networks. This violates the freedom of expression and the economic rights of Albanian citizens. We are confident that the members of the Criminal Court will not legitimize it because this will create a precedent that could lead to the closure of other social networks, or the closure of the internet by this government or other governments that will come after," said Myraj.

Meanwhile, the director of the CLE center stated that this request was filed as an incompatible proposal for the KLP decision. He said that he considers the closure of this platform as the last measure that should be taken.

"We have filed a request for an uncontested motion for the KLP's decision."

The decision was justified as being taken after a dangerous event.

It severely violates freedom of expression and economic freedom.

It violates principles and rights.

They can only be limited based on public interest, but it turns out that this has only been argued and not proven in the DCM.

Even if the public interest is violated, the restriction must occur in a limited manner.

Closure should have been the last resort.

The public interest had to be guaranteed.

"In the filed request, we also requested the suspension of its implementation," said the head of CLE. /CNA
