First Mass as Archbishop/ Message of His Beatitude, Joan: Take Care of the

Archbishop Joan, in his message at his first mass as Archbishop at the "Resurrection of Christ" Cathedral in Korça, gave important messages for all believers.

Archbishop Joan excitedly asked the Congregation to take care of the Diocese as they are the living stones of the Church.

He also emphasized that until a new Metropolitan is elected, he will take care of the Diocese himself.

"Our path passes through the cross, through difficulties. The cross is an extraordinary help. If we understand the mystery of the cross, our lives will change. Hope in the cross is a light. We stop at the Resurrection. The cross is an instrument of the Resurrection for Christ.

Our path will be difficult. The cross of Christ defeated the world and evil. Today's Gospel is very significant. Whoever comes after me must take up his cross and deny himself and follow me. When the Lord tells us to deny ourselves, he means the pseudo-self.

Today we live in a time when there is spiritual darkness. Technologies have reached their peak and yet there is no joy. Spiritual life is missing, by denying the pseudo-self we will discover the light.

Today I am excited, I want to thank everyone who has helped me. Separation is not easy. Separation is temporary. I will pray for this Diocese because a part of my life is here and for a short time until the new Metropolitan is elected, I will cover this Diocese. The history of the Church is two thousand years old. Today I would like to thank everyone. I would like to apologize to everyone if I have hurt anyone. The desire has been good to save.

I would like you to pray for me because our journey is not over yet. You are the living stones of the Church. Living people give value to the walls. We must have responsibility for the church. In the world, people may collect many things but joy is missing. Joy is a gift from God, when God is within our lives.

May God grant you long life, spiritual enlightenment. By helping the Church, we help ourselves. A true Christian loves his country. A true believer loves his country and does not abandon it. By giving more, we receive. This is Christianity,” said Archbishop Joan./ CNA
