Violence against 18-year-old/ Rama, with an iron fist: Suspension without return

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the violence against an 18-year-old in Vlora by a police officer.

Rama stated that the officer should be suspended without return to the police ranks and should be brought to justice after being released from the hospital.

Rama further underlined that the package of new measures for the reform of territorial control also includes an increase in the legal responsibility of all state employees who operate in contact with communities and citizens, who will not tolerate violations of any nature that harm the community or citizen, whether during or outside of work hours.

"The suspension from duty of the Dibër State Police officer, who participated in an ugly physical conflict in Vlora off-duty, is only the first measure that should be followed by the exclusion of this individual without return to the ranks of the police, as well as his surrender to justice as soon as he is released from the hospital.

Meanwhile, the package of new territorial control reform measures also includes an increase in the legal responsibility of all state employees who operate in contact with communities and citizens, who will not tolerate violations of any nature that harm the community or citizen, whether during or outside of work hours.

*Example: Any state employee who owns an unauthorized building for profit or who uses a public space to make a profit (in addition to the same penalties for all) will be prosecuted and will be excluded from duty without the right to return to a job in the state sector for a considerable number of years," Rama writes./ CNA
