Today's hearing at the Special Court for Plarent Dervishaj failed to take place. According to reports, the reason was arguments between Dervishaj's lawyers and the jury.
The defendant requested that the hearing be held behind closed doors, as according to him the media have distorted the witnesses' statements.
The court did not accept Dervishaj's request, and the latter then stripped his lawyers of the right to represent him and left the courtroom.
"You conduct the trial. I will no longer participate in the trial," Dervishaj reportedly said before leaving the courtroom.
Plarent Dervishaj is suspected of being involved in the assassination attempt on Durrës prosecutor Arjan Ndoji in November 2019, at the Shkozet overpass. /CNA
