After the statements of Philip Hughes, a member of the Commission of American Ambassadors, in an interview for "Voa", where he stated that the decision to declare former Prime Minister Sali Berisha non grata should be reconsidered, lawyer Genc Gjokutaj reacted.

Gjokutaj said that according to Hughes the procedure followed is non-transparent and contrary to the practices of the American state.

Gjokutaj says that based on the diplomat's statements, the process against Berisha is invalid from a legal point of view.

So he calls it a political process.

"The gentleman in the interview broadcast today by VOA is Philip Hughes, a member of the Commission of American Ambassadors!

He reveals and clarifies that the procedure followed by the Blinken administration in the case of the declaration non grata of Mr. Sali Berisha is not transparent and contrary to the practices that the American state has followed in similar cases! He declares that Mr. Berisha has been deprived of the right to be acquainted with the evidence and facts and therefore also the right of defense! Yes, the American Congress is also ignorant!

In short, the process against Mr. Berisha is null and void from a legal point of view and as such has no legal effect!
