The director of the project, Altin Ahmeti, has revealed that the Thumanë-Kashar axis will open at the end of June. He stated that 78.1% of the project has been completed so far.

The residents of Thumana and the surrounding areas will be in Tirana due to the speed that will go up to 130 km/h for 15 minutes.

"The length is 21 kilometers plus 16 kilometers of secondary roads. There are 11 bridges, 6 underpasses, 6 overpasses and 144 tombinos. All these are in the value of 78-80% of their realization. We have two directions with two lanes of 3.75 each, we have the 3-meter emergency lane and the 0.7-meter jetty plus the part of the traffic divider that is 2.6 meters. The speed is 130 kilometers per hour, which means that the residents of Thumana and the surrounding areas have access from Tirana in about 15 minutes," he said.

Ahmeti has stated that a very big commitment is needed for this entire project to be realized within the date.  

"The realization time is quite short for such an object. The portion of structures that are quite substantial in number and length. The largest bridge is 350 meters long, but there are 11 of them, which means that it will take a lot of effort to complete them within this date that we have said", said Ahmeti.

This road is being built by the company Gener 2 with its own funds, while the crossing will be paid, with a fee that remains to be determined by a special commission.

"That's what the management unit will be for. It will be a toll system that will be in the part of the Rinas branch. It will only be one point. For the operation part, then it will be the other unit that will do the operation all the time", said the project manager.

The new road was obtained with a concession for 35 years. The Albanian state has undertaken to provide support in the first 8 years of operation, if the basic plan is not achieved.

The financial resources for the construction of the road will be provided by the concession and the latter will receive in return the revenues from the fees that will be imposed for crossing the road throughout the concession period.
