Police balance for May/ 625 arrested, 99 operations and 84 kg of drugs

The State Police has today shared data on the work carried out during the month of May 2025. Regarding aspects of police work, during the month we just left behind, it results that:

- 99 police operations have been finalized;

-34 international police operations have been finalized;

-they have arrested 625 suspected perpetrators of criminal acts;

- 50 firearms and a considerable amount of combat ammunition were seized; about 84 kilograms of cannabis, hundreds of doses of this substance and of the narcotic substance cocaine, as well as 2861 cannabis seeds; money and assets with suspected criminal sources in a total value of about 415,000 euros, smuggled goods, bulletproof vests, silencers, documents and counterfeit money;

- 8269 cannabis plants/seedlings were destroyed within the framework of the national mega-operation codenamed "Coordinates";

- in Tirana and Shkodra, during 3 operations, 13 citizens were arrested who, organized as a group or individually, were trafficking or selling weapons on behalf of criminal groups;

The operational work of the Durrës Police and the Directorate of the Special Operational Force led to the arrest of 7 citizens (3 of them with high social risk), who were standing together in the premises of a restaurant, with firearms ready to fire;

- the escalation of 8 conflicts was prevented, some of them domestic and/or involving firearms;

-10 criminal incidents have been solved, including explosive explosions, injuries, self-harm with firearms held without a permit, intentional arson of vehicles, and road accidents where vehicle drivers fled the scene of the accident;

-1 apartment adapted for cultivation of narcotic plants with bulbs was discovered in Fier, as well as 1 "call center" in Tirana, where computer fraud was carried out;

-22 operations have been finalized to uncover thefts and bring their perpetrators to criminal responsibility;

- 13 cases of attempts to transport smuggled goods through border crossing points were cracked down on;

-2 operations against the illegal organization of gambling and 2 operations against the transportation of immigrants, with the aim of illegally crossing the border, have been finalized;

- Vlora District Police provided assistance in 4 cases to foreign and Albanian citizens who were in difficulty due to terrain and/or weather conditions;

-181 cases of domestic violence and 217 crimes against the environment have been handled, in cooperation with other competent institutions. /CNA
