The Municipality of Pogradec has received a new fire engine. It is a gift from the Municipality of Wismar in Germany, cities between which there has been a twinning and cooperation relationship for years.

The fire truck was personally delivered by the mayor of Wismar, Thomas Beyer.

During the handover ceremony, Beyer expressed his satisfaction that on behalf of the Wismar community it was being donated to the Pogradec fire department, focusing on its contribution to increasing safety and improving service capacities to citizens.

The Mayor of Pogradec, Ilir Xhakolli, emphasized that this is the second fire engine that the German city donates to Pogradec.

"I hope that the vehicle will be used as little as possible, which means fewer fires, while underlining that the new vehicle has dimensions that enable intervention even in the narrow streets of the city," said Xhakoli.

This is the second fire extinguisher that the Municipality of Wismar donates to Pogradec, while the cooperation between the two cities has expanded over the years to other areas, such as cultural exchanges and joint activities between young people, further strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two communities./CNA
