The head of the contract management sector at the Albanian Road Authority, Gëzim Noni, spoke in a television appearance about the cracks in the roads in recent days and the causes of this phenomenon.

Noni said that one of the causes is the increased traffic on the roads over the years.

He further said that some roads have old cracks and are being deliberately brought to attention.

Another factor that has influenced the cracking of the roads, according to Noni, are the heavy tonnage vehicles that are always outside the permitted norms and there are no controls.

This is the main cause of road degradation according to the head of the National Road Safety Agency.

 

 

" We see such incidents in more developed countries than Albania. Turkey is in the same situation, as was Italy, countries in the region, etc., etc. What is causing a stir is the interruption of traffic. This is it.

Then, there is one more thing. The flow we had during Enver's time has nothing to do with today's flow. The flow advances for years. As for Boboshticë-Dardhe, it is an old, proven collapse. It has been working like this for years. Projects have been done time and time again, we are waiting for funding at any moment, which so far has not been possible. They bill us for roads in neighborhoods, villages...

They have an extraordinary role. Besides that, we have another thing that we need to say, and we need to say it out loud. All heavy vehicles are above the permitted norms. All of them! They are not controlled, they are not managed, today as we speak this thing does not happen. This is observed everywhere. The main cause of the degradation of the roads are these heavy transport vehicles, with loads above the permitted norms” , said the head of the ARA.
