Representatives of 28 EPP parties in Tirana/Këlliçi: Positive event

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi has reacted to the arrival in Tirana of representatives from 28 EPP parties, including many MEPs. Këlliçi described this as a positive event for the opposition and for the entire country.

Further in the post, he shared details from the meeting held between representatives of the EPP and the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group.

The MP writes that they were identified through facts and documents regarding violations in the May 11 elections, abuse of public funds, and government corruption.

Full post:

The arrival in Tirana of such an expanded representation from 28 EPP parties, including many MEPs, at the request of the Democratic Party, is a positive event for the Opposition and for the country.

In the meeting we had today with colleagues from the leadership of the DP parliamentary group, we shared our concerns about the undemocratic developments that are taking place in the country. The genesis of it all, the electoral farce!

The EPP representatives were informed of the flagrant violations that occurred during the May 11 elections. With concrete evidence of the involvement of criminal groups in the headquarters of the majority representatives and of many other violations by the government.

We share the idea that after this farce, deformations and degradations in all aspects have increased. Autocracy is growing and this was first seen in the Albanian Parliament.

Friends from the EPP were informed that I and other colleagues have been expelled from Parliament since December 19th, because we protested and demanded the inclusion of SPAK's request for the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku on the agenda.

They were introduced to the entire picture that shows that parliamentarism has declined, where the Opposition's constitutional rights to investigate and control the government are being violated.

The extent of government corruption and criminal connections is alarming.

The EPP delegation was informed of concrete facts and evidence about the abuse of public funds and the defense that Edi Rama is making against corruption and attempts to create extra immunity for himself, by law.

This meeting appreciated the fight that the DP is waging for free voting and against corruption and the government's ties to crime.

The presence of such an extensive fact-finding delegation in Tirana is confirmation of the DP's seriousness and commitment to not allowing the farce of May 11 and not letting Albania take steps back on the path of European integration.

Endless thanks to our European friends. / CNA
