Accusations of the concessionaire company EMS-APO/ The Port Authority of

The Port Authority of Durrës has issued an official response after the accusations from the concession company EMS-APO, which earlier accused the Port Authority of interfering with police forces to suspend its commercial activity.

In a statement, the Port Authority of Durres states that EMS-APO is abusing information in an attempt to cover up the fact that it is one of the companies with the weakest performance in the Port of Durres.

It is further underlined that the Authority strongly condemns the completely abusive attitudes of representatives of the concessionaire EMS-APO in some national media, in an attempt to intimidate and hinder the implementation of security and port administration plans in the Port of Durrës.

In the response, it is stated that at no time did the state institutions violate the contract.

According to the Port Authority of Durrës, EMS-APO continues to demonstrate a complete lack of will to cooperate with the relevant institutions and has undertaken deliberate actions with the aim of benefiting from eventual court decisions.

The Durrës Port Authority expresses its deep indignation and strongly condemns the completely abusive attitudes of representatives of the concessionaire EMS-APO in some national media, in an attempt to intimidate and hinder the implementation of security and port administration plans in the Port of Durrës.

We underline the fact that the state institutions at no time have violated the peaceful and full enjoyment of the contract by EMS-APO, nor its operational activity, but have requested the exercise of the right of way to access the surface of a construction site for development approved by Law by the Assembly of the Republic of Albania.

Beyond the false claims of the EMS-APO company, the Port Authority has taken the necessary measures for the continuation of the daily activity of all port terminals, including the eastern terminal, by improving the security plans and the plans for the internal regulation of traffic in the port.

Considering the large flow of passengers and goods that are processed in Durrës in this period, it is certainly necessary to have increased security measures, measures about which the representatives of the concessionaire company have been informed.

Moreover, it is easily verifiable that the activity of processing goods in the Eastern Terminal continued today normally and without obstacles, where 14,000 tons of chrome goods were loaded. This fact is confirmed by images from our drones that monitor the progress of the processes, as well as from satellite images available from ASIG.

The rejecting and obstructing attitudes of the EMS-APO company do not find justification or support either in the operational activity or in its economic performance, not fulfilling, repeatedly, the plans proposed by the company itself in the concession contract.

EMS-APO is abusing the information in an attempt to cover the fact that it is one of the companies with the weakest performance in the Port of Durrës, based on facts and figures, which has decided to maximize its profit through conflicts with the Port Authority. threatening lawsuits and arbitrations.

APD assures all stakeholders that we act in full compliance with the law and will not allow EMS-APO, or any other company, to tarnish the transparent and operational processes of the Port, to cover up the incompetence of its management staff.

Occurring in these conditions, and despite the good will of the state authorities, it is evident that EMS-APO continues to demonstrate a complete lack of will to cooperate with the relevant institutions and has undertaken deliberate actions aimed at benefiting from eventual court decisions. Moreover, in the conditions where, during the concessionary activity, a long number of violations of the contractual provisions have been repeatedly found, today's obstructive attitudes and actions by the EMS-APO company make it a completely unreliable entity for the development of the port sector in Albania.
