July has again recorded a higher number of accidents compared to the 7th month of the previous year, where a total of 146 cases were recorded with an increase of 16.8 percent.

The data published by the Institute of Statistics, which underlines that these are preliminary data and still being updated, show that despite the higher number of accidents, their fatality was lower.

"In the month of July 2024, 146 road accidents are counted, of which 191 are accidents (killed and injured). * (Published data is preliminary and subject to updating). During these seven months of 2024, the death rate in road accidents is 9.2 per 100 accidents, from 16.8 that was in the same period a year ago", the publication states.

In a more detailed analysis of the causes of accidents, the publication underlines that the behavior of vehicle drivers at the wheel dominates, and to a lesser extent the behavior of pedestrians.

"Road accidents, in 91.1% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 23.3% of the total number of accidents. In the month of July 2024, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Wednesday with 19.2%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Thursday, with 8.9%," states the publication of INSTAT.

The same estimates that the highest number of road accidents occurred during the time frame 08:00-12:00, accounting for 19.2% of the total number of road accidents./ Monitor
