"Air Albania" with financial problems, does not pay 5 million euros in

Air Albania must pay 5 million euros to a catering company that provides meals to passengers. The decision was made by the Tirana Court of Appeal, which ruled that the airline must liquidate the invoices.

Air Albania claims that the amount is overbilled and has requested a suspension of payments. The company's request was accepted by the Tirana Court, but the Appeals Court in May of this year decided to force Air Albanian to pay the invoices.

The Court of Appeals orders the company "Air Albania" to pay around 5 million euros in overdue invoices to a company that supplies food to passengers on board.

This court decision, although made on May 13, 2025, has not yet been reflected in the National Business Center.

The airline "Air Albania" refuses to pay invoices issued by a business in Lushnja, claiming that it was overbilled and that the payments would lead to serious financial difficulties.

“Air Albania” signed a contract with a company in 2019 for the supply of catering food, which is used for passengers on board the aircraft. During the period 2022-2024, the supplier company issued at least 10 invoices on behalf of “Air Albania”, for a total amount exceeding the value of 500 million new leks.

The company "Air Albania" has not paid these invoices, although it appears that it has accepted them as regular in its own payment system.

In December 2024, the Tirana Court accepted the food company's request and issued an execution order for those invoices. This means that Air Albania was obliged by court decision to make the outstanding payments.

Following this decision, the airline is requesting the Tirana Court to suspend payments. In its arguments, Air Albania claims that the company that supplied it with catering meals has overbilled it by around 1.8 million euros.

The airline claims to have received the food supplier's invoices, but did so in good faith. After an internal audit, Air Albania claims to have discovered overbilling and has therefore not paid the invoices worth around 5 million euros until the matter is finally resolved.

The Tirana Court accepts the request of “Air Albania” for the suspension of payments. This decision was later annulled by the Court of Appeal, with the final decision dated May 13, 2025. In this decision, “Air Albania” is ordered to make payments for the obligations./ Syri.net
