Will Erion Veliaj and Plarent Ndreca postpone today's court session?

Today at 12:00, the next court session will take place at the GJKKO against the arrested mayor of Tirana, who is facing 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, Erion Veliaj, who is being defended by the defendant's lawyer Plarent Ndreca.

The delay in court proceedings has been going on for 9 months, since July 2025. Erion Veliaj has used various tactics to postpone the hearings.

The new tactic to postpone the session this time could be the intervention that Veliaj carried out a few days ago, but which the media paid by the incinerators and the mayor's brother reported two days before today's session. 

Veliaj's problem with performing this intervention for warts, before the date of the court hearing, is the postponement of the hearings, since according to the law, his trial in the First Instance must be completed within two years.

Veliaj's goal is to postpone the trials to catch this deadline and come up with another security measure, that of "house arrest", thus choosing not to face justice, but to first get out of prison and then fight the legal battle.

61,000 pages have been submitted for Veliaj, proving with facts the accusations brought against him by prosecutors.

Veliaj is accused of corruption in at least 9 cases, abuse of office, concealment of assets, laundering the proceeds of crime, and bringing prohibited items into the detention cell.
